Are there any plans at all for supporting JSON? I think it is a very relevant question......

PowerDesigner does have some JSON support in the PDM. A quick search of SAP brings up this entry from November 2017:

    Here's part of it:

SAP’s current plan to support NoSQL databases is to focus on modeling the input/output data for these types of platforms. This input/output data is commonly represented as JSON schemas for these platforms.

This position is based on our findings that modeling for NoSQL platforms is challenging, since it would be based on a sample set of data vs. a catalog which would exist in a RDBMS. Additionally, that sample set could constantly change in both scope and structure based on the data or context loaded.

To this end, SAP has introduced a JSON schema database definition in SAP PowerDesigner 16.6 SP04 as part of PowerDesigner’s Physical Data Model for customers to be able to model JSON schemas and generate the JSON schemas.

Refer to the SAP PowerDesigner product road map for more information.

    1. Browse to the SAP Road Maps site
    2. Select the Products and Solutions tile
    3. Scroll to Application Integration and Infrastructure section
    4. Search for SAP Enterprise Architecture Designer and SAP PowerDesigner
