Hello experts,

Currently we have Data Services XI 3.2 (Version: in Linux RedHat 5. We want to upgrade RedHat 5 to 6. So, for that we have installed RH6 in a machine and wanted to test out if our reporting server and data integrator works or not.

The current DI we are using is Edge BI with DI. The details from ProductID.txt as below:

$ more setup/ProductID.txt

Vendor : SAP BusinessObjects

Product : di

Version : 12 2

Date : 06 Oct 2010

Platform : Linux

SoftwarePath : linux_x86

Can anyone please guide me on how can i install DS (which version) on the new machine and how can i migrate the data and test out the jobs?

Your help on this's highly appreciated.

You are on a very old version of Data Integrator. I would recommend you to upgrade to Data Services 4.x version provided you have license. You can contact SAP Support Team regarding License and upgrade of Data Services.

If you dont want to upgrade to the latest version, then you can follow the below scenario

1) Create a new repository database using Repository Manager(E.g. DSREPO_NEW)

2) Log in to Designer as an Administrator in Production Local Repository(e.g. DSREPO_OLD) and Export all the jobs to the newly created repository database(DSREPO_NEW). Make sure that you are exporting everything.

2) Install Data Services ( same version as on the RHEL 5 server) on the new RHEL 6 Server and Associate the job server with the newly created repository database(DSREPO_NEW). Also you need to make sure that the ODBC DSN Entries on the new RHEL 6 Server are the same as RHEL 5 Server. This is needed for the job server to communicate with the database server while executing the jobs.

3) Log in to the newly created repository on RHEL 6 Server and do a thorough regression testing of the jobs.
