how do i get list of values of dimension objects using restful web service?

I am trying to create a report using restful web service SDK and would like to give option to users with the list of values for an dimension while setting up the query filters. how do i get list of values of dimension objects using restful web service?

    Hi Sivaraman,

    Once you've added the filter as a parameter, you can query the parameter(s) in the document and specify whether or not to return the list of values:

    GET /documents/<docID>/parameters?lovInfo=true/false

    the default is "true" so the values are returned.

    Thanks for your response. While creating a webi report using restful SDK we are trying to show the list of values for user to select. At this point we don't have document any created. Is there a way to get the LOV for an object without having an document? Please suggest.

    • Hi Sivaraman,

      You will have to first create an document and add a universe to it in order to access the objects. Then you can get values for objects after adding them to the report.

      if you want to get values for an object without having created a report yet, then you will need to use the Semantic Layer REST SDK where you simply create a runtime query from the universe and return raw data. Have a look at the queries api in the documentation
