Eet error 'unable to initialize client library context' when trying to open ASE to connect sybase.

I already installed a sybase and an ASE, and this sybase can be properly connected by the ASE.

Then someday, i installed a SAP sybase, when i click the ASE to connect with old profiles, i will always get the error 'unable to initialize client library context'.

I don't know what's wrong but i just want not change back connecting to my previous sybase.

In order to make it, i have updated the computer environment varaiables from Sybase to sybase on Path and all variables i can find named with Sapsybase.

However, i still get same error when connecting sybase via ASE.

I know nothing about Dll, so i don't know whether its related with that.

Could anybody give me some suggesstions?

Appreciate your reply,thanks!

    Hi Gina,

What version of ASE did you install?
    What platform are you on?
What client / application / tool are you in when you "click the ASE"?
Can you connect to ASE using the basic isql client application?

Have you run the SYBASE (.csh, .sh, or .bat) file in $SYBASE in the session you are running the client application in?
This script sets up various environment variables. I haven't seen any reports of this message for about 10 years but looking
through the old cases the issue appears to have usually been some problem with the $LIB or $LD_LIBRARY_PATH environment variables.
