Does anyone know how to raise the following alerts manually in Solman Monitirng about SAP PI?

Hi All,

Could anyone tell me how to raise the following alerts about the following metrics manually in Solution Manager 7.2 System Monitoring Template?

<Technical System>

・PI Adapter Engine Availability in SAP PI Adapter Engine 7.31 and newer

・PI Integration Directory Availability in SAP PI Integration Directory 7.30 - 7.31

・ESR Availability in SAP Enterprise Services Rep 7.30 - 7.31

We will assign those monitoring templates to PI and are doing the test in order to make sure we can get the alerts about all the assigned templates in our project. We stopped the service of PI but were only able to get the alert about the instance availability of PI.

We could not complete the test by the deadline so would like to know the way of getting those alerts as soon as possible. We would be very glad if anyone could help us.

Please let me know if you need further information to solve the problem.

Thank you.
Yudai

Hi,

Please check in Integration monitoring->Process Integration->Component availability Monitor step is green and it is activated for alerting.

Once this is activated you will receiving the alert from solman .

Before this please ensure manage system configuration is completed with any errors for PI system and correct template is assigned and activated.

Thanks

Thank you for your comment.

Could you let me know how to raise the following alerts after configuring PI monitoring? Do I just need to stop the service of PI? I guess I need to stop the service for each component but I do not know how.

<Technical System>

・PI Adapter Engine Availability in SAP PI Adapter Engine 7.31 and newer

・PI Integration Directory Availability in SAP PI Integration Directory 7.30 - 7.31

・ESR Availability in SAP Enterprise Services Rep 7.30 - 7.31

Hi Yudai,

As I am aware no need to stop Services and all, when you configure PI monitoring and activate it for alerting , there are two monitoring objects

  • Component Availability
  • Component Self test

When this monitoring objects are activated for alerting , It will automatically trigger an alert when the service goes down for each component depending upon your configuration.

Did you assign correct templates to your system shown as below ?

Of course. I am not sure what you would like to check...

Could you answer the following two questions?

・How can I raise the alerts regarding PI manually if the configuration is completed?

・Do I need to configure PI monitoring?

Thank you.

You don't need any other configuration manually if templates assigned properly. Please select assigned templet and reset to default. once you don't it reassign templated and activate it again.

・Do I need to configure PI monitoring?

Better configuring it.

This is alert inbox but not dashboard. I have asked for dashboard.

Sorry we dont use the dashboard.

I am not sure what you want to check in the dashboad and just want to know the way of raising the alerts...

Thank you.

Dashboard is the way to check that templates applied properly. or . reply them as I said before.

I am now 100% sure that templates did not get assigned for PI system thats why you facing this issue.

Ok. I will trust you. If the dashboad means system monitoring in workcenter, unfortunately we have not configured it yet. Please let me know how to assign PI templates properly if they are not applied.

Looking at this screenshot I can say Monitoring is not fully configured for your PI system otherwise you can see PI system in the list.

Finish system monitoring wizard for PI ABAP and JAVA stack.

Well, I configured everything in the link except for PI monitoring and I already get the alerts for other systems for ERP, CAR, SLT, etc. Even for PI, I get the alerts about other templates like J2EE Engine, PI adapter Engine in technical instance, Linux.

So I think you can not say the PI templates are not applied properly from the dashboard. I guess they are applied perfectly but cannot get the alert manually because the way of the testing is incorrect (Stop the service or OS).

Also, I have not configured PI monitoring but already get the alerts for other PI templates so it means PI monitoring configuration is not the reason why I can not get the alerts

Did you setup email alert for PI or not? That is the last thing I can think of if you have all configured properly.

Yes I get an email about the alerts for other PI templates, so we just need to figure out how to raise the following alerts(metrics) manually other than stopping the service or OS.

<Technical System>

・PI Adapter Engine Availability in SAP PI Adapter Engine 7.31 and newer

・PI Integration Directory Availability in SAP PI Integration Directory 7.30 - 7.31

・ESR Availability in SAP Enterprise Services Rep 7.30 - 7.31

Hello Yudai,

Did you configure PI monitoring?

Hi Yogesh,

Thank you so much for your comment.

Is that the prerequisite to use the above templates regarding PI? Such a step is not needed for other templates.

Also, do you mean that we can get the alerts about the above templates only by stopping the service of PI once the configuration of PI monitoring is done?

Can you send me your version of PI and assigned template screenshot?

Thanks

We are using PI7.5.

All metrics belonging to the templates are active.
