Is it possible to use XI as an FTP server that another FTP client can login to and deposit files? I know we can use XI as a FTP client to login to other servers but we'd like to receive files via FTP also. Is that possible?
Will reward points.
James,

I think there's some confusion... I know we can use XI as a FTP client where we push or pull files at our discretion. We'd like to use XI as an FTP SERVER that another ftp client can login to and place or pull files as needed.
Most of the links provided refer to using XI as a FTP client, not a server.
As to why we're not using another FTP server such as IIS, etc, installing any type of software or configuring software on production servers is a major process so I'd rather just use XI which is up and running already.
Hey James,
unfortunately XI sender ftp adapter works as a client that downloads, and receiver ftp works as a client that uploads. None of them support XI as a ftp server. You'll have to consider using a local ftp server solution.
If you dont want to use XI's machine to provide that server, since it is windows and all, if you have any unix machine (like firewall, for instance) you could use it for ftp and then make XI pool from it.
But, why can't you poll for your incoming messages? Your partner won't let external applications to connect to it, is that it? You might want to consider a DMZ here.
Regards,
Henrique.

Hi,
XI normally installed on a particular OS say unix, linux, windows etc... So create a FTP site/sever on this OS. Is there any specific reason why you want to use XI as a FTP server? What difference will it make?
thanks,
Eshwar
