Buffering option has been removed from SAP HANA DB. But, when we create any table on a system hosted on HANA DB, in the technical settings we get the option to set buffering for that particular table.

So, why that is still available when such concept is not applicable in HANA DB.

That buffering parameter applies to the application server. Databases (Oracle, DB2, etc.) manage their own buffering.

Even if the DB is very fast, a roundtrip to the DB and back takes longer than accessing data in the app server memory. I am not a HANA expert, but it still seems logical to me to buffer some things at the application server. Think of the thousands of small config tables that get hit all the time.

Spot on! HANA is fast, but process local memory is faster :)
