SDI - HANA (ODBC) adapter vs. HanaAdapter & What is the SQL syntax for Remote Source - HanaAdapter

What is the different use cases for the HANA (ODBC) adapter and the HanaAdapter?

And, what is the correct SQL syntax/statement to create a Remote Source with the HanaAdapter? What are the mandatory fields to be populated in the syntax. (*not able to find a good example in any online docs or forums.

    Hello Liv,

for the HanaAdapter you need a DPAgent running (SDI) while the ODBC Hana Adapter (SDA) is running directly on your Hana.
A more detailed look at the different architectures is given in this blog post: https://blogs.sap.com/2016/01/18/hana-smart-data-integration-architecture/

I would recommend to create any RemoteSource through the UI (Hana Studio or WebIDE catalog) to get the latest version of the remote source description containing new properties etc.. You can then get the corresponding sql back by querying the SYS.REMOTE_SOURCES view.

One of the most important differences is the realtime capability of SDI, which makes it possible to replicate data from one remote source to another or trigger a flowgraph (ETL) for each changed row in the table of the remote hana.

    Kind Regards,
    Timo Wagner
