All customers created as Sold to

Hello group colleagues,

I work for a company in which all the customers were created in the same account group (sold to party). Now we want to use the standard account groups, but the problem is that it is not possible to change e.g. from sold-to into a lower level (ship to, bill to or payer). Do you have any proposal which the best approach could be to disaggregate the customers into different account groups?

Thank you very much for your comments!

Can you tell us what is the business requirement to change all sold to Customers into other account groups-What is the business scenario to do such activity now..

As you are aware-We can assign different account group based on sales area differentiation..may work for you ...pl try..

We can assign the same customers as ship to,Bill to & payer in the respected and needed customer masters..

(later you can avoid taking this sold to customer in VA01 with some Exits)

But-Can you help us on my first query to do so..

The business requirements are the typical benefits to have different account groups. For example, if you have all the customers created as sold-to, you have to maintain all the fields for e.g. credit management. If you have customer that is clearly ship-to, you don´t have to maintain this information. In other words, sold-to can do everything and converting a sold-to into a ship-to you are scoping the actions that a customer can perform.

XD07 is the standard transaction to it, and if it is technically not possible then SAP tells you why.

AFAIK it's not feasible to change the customer group as different group could mean completely different data requirements.
