GRN for the packaging with HU

Hi All,

We have created the HU in the system with inventory managed packaging material with inbound delivery but while making the GRN of the main material inventory of the packaging material is not received .

Please let me know how to receive the packaging material in inventory with main material

What you describe now is a standard process, but this packaging in consumed in your HU, you can't see its stock in MMBE, you can't receive it as packaging, as it is no new packaging and you did not order packaging, it is used and the product is in this packaging, you can't use it for anything else in this moment.

In my case we are automotive industry where parts need spl kind of packaging material which we send to vendor & later vendor pack the material in those package & ship back

drink the Coke and then you have the empty packaging back in inventory.

When you receive your material then it is packed. Unless you unpack it you can't have inventory for the packaging.

Unpacking comes after the receipt, if you unpack a HU then you have no longer a HU.

What you want is Empties Management

Not sure how to use empties management here as in my case we do not pay vendor for the package materials as this is already own by us .. which we keep on sending to vendors & receive the pack material

I am not really clear about what you want, it sounds like you purchase water. And you created a HU with bottles. And now you do a goods receipt and expect to see inventory on the material number for water and on the material number for bottles.

My understanding on packing inbound deliveries is that you order water and that you pack it in bottles with the receipt, and the bottles are taken from your stock and will be goods issued instead of received.

Or you pack just without inventory management, which means you build a logical unit of a certain amount of water in a certain number of packages. So you finally know how much water you got, and you also know in how many HUs it is packed. But still you do not receive any packaging.

So what is actually the physical process and what is your target with HU management in this process?

Hi Jurgen,

We have designed special type of packaging material for receiving the parts from the vendors, so we send these packaging material to vendor with the packaging instruction & vendor send back us the material packed in those packaging material , so we want to tack these packaging material , like in Warehouse , In-transit or at vendor stock , so once we receive the HU from the vendor we want to have the GRN of packaging material also along with the main part

Can you please share your views
