Thanks and points.

Hi Jennifer,

sure there are:)

5XX00 (XX - WAS system number)

5XX04 (access to visual admin)

5XX18 (SDM)

also have a look at this doc:

https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/4e515a43-0e01-0010-2da1-9bcc452c...

and inside it you can find a whole part on j2ee ports

michal

Michal:

Is there a picture to illustrate the relationships among those

servers, firewall, ports, instances, proxies?

Thanks a lot!

I have another question is :

If I want to access an R/3 instance, I need to put the port info

(e.g. sapmsSID 36NN/tcp) in the services file.

Why I do not have to do the same thing if I want to access

a java application, e.g. http://<FQDN>:5NN00/irj/portal. I

do not have to set 5NN00 any place?

Thanks!

Hi,

>>>a java application, e.g. http://<FQDN>:5NN00/irj/portal

you're accessing this via http so everything is set on the http server (SAP WAS)

Michal:

Where is it set at http servers?

Thanks!

Jennifer don't change them please - j2ee ports should remain default as they are

so every developer and admin will be able to access them easily

Hi Jennifer,

5XX00 - XX -> can be set during "WAS installation"

(it can be changed later one but I don't even know if it's supported by SAP

so let's forget about changing it)

for other apps like visual admin and SDM I don't know but probably

can be changed too from some configuration files

I still do not understand why why we need to put ABAP ports

in the services file while JAVA ports are maintained

at the http server only.

SAP designed this way because of some technical reason?

Thanks!
