Using CrystalDecisions from nuget vs. Visual Studio installation

I'd like to use the CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine from nuget, but I'm concerned this is an old, unsupported version and possibly has been replaced by the Visual Studio installation for developers. Can this be confirmed? The last update on the nuget package was 8/2014. I'm not interested in the Visual Studio installation because each new release of Visual Studio creates the task of getting he latest Crystal installation. We are considering upgrading Crystal Reports from XI to the latest version and not sure if these dlls are compatible. All I am looking to do is be able to pass parameters to a .rpt and open it in a viewer.I guess my question is, is using the CrystalDecisions dll from nuget a wise choice?

Hi Robin,

I think it's the same thing, not clear though. All updates and downloads like the ClickOnce package are all from here now:

https://wiki.scn.sap.com/wiki/display/BOBJ/Crystal+Reports%2C+Developer+for+Visual+Studio+Downloads

I believe the Nuget package is the same thing as ClickOnce.

We are up to SP 20 now and this is the only SDK supported now.

I have found a more current nuget package for version 20. However, there is little information regarding the source/author. Can you tell me if this is distributed by SAP?

https://www.nuget.org/packages/Crystal.Reports.Essentials/

Thank you.

From Twitter:
@CRnAnalysisTips Hi @ErnestCook , we don't make packages for nuGet at this time and so far it isn't planned. You can however enter an enhancement via our Customer Influence site for Crystal: https://influence.sap.com/sap/ino/#/campaign/897) influence.sap.com/sap/ino/#/camp…
