Hi

I'm new to SAP R3 side. I'm a SAP Business One Consultant. I would like to know the following.

-To intsall SAP ERP 2005 (bare minimum with sales), what files must I download from the portal? We are using DB2 database and installing on Windows.

-In the portal where you download the software. There is rapid installer, and other links to go to install and upgrades. What is the difference? What is rapid installer?

-I know there is a version that works with MS SQL. But I only see db2 and oracle options for downloading?

-what is the bare requirements of hardware to setup test machine?

Thanks in advance.

Will reward generously

hi...

go for -> Installations and Upgrades -> SAP Application Components -> SAP ERP -> SAP ERP 2005 -> SAP NETWEAVER 2004S -> Windows Server -> DB2 UDB

you'll need at least the following:

-> BS2005 SR2 Installation Master Windows Server on IA32 32bit (if you use Win32)

-> DB2 9 LUW FP1 Windows Server on IA32 32bit (if you use Win32)

-> NW 2004s SR2 UC-Kernel 7.00 Windows Server on IA32 32bit (if uyou use Win32)

and the ERP2005SR2 content (which you will find under ERP2005 -> Installation & Upgrade -> download objects)

-> SAP ERP 2005 SR2 Installation Export (all 8 of them)

if you plan to implement the Java Stack as well, you'll need (also under Netweaver 2004s):

-> NW 2004s SR2 Java based SW Comp. (all 5 parts)

<b>rapid installer</b>...only for a netweaver system..not for erp2005 (which includes ecc 6.0 what you'll need)

you'll see only those <b>db/os combinations</b> for which you have the appropriate licenses...no sqlsrv license = cannot download

<b>bare minimum</b>...min. 2 cpu or core2duo (such as e6600), 4 gb ram, approx. 100-160 GB hard disk...only for test/development purposes...

Hi

Thanks for the response. Greatly appreciated.

You said

-"ERP2005SR2 content (which you will find under ERP2005 -> Installation & Upgrade -> download objects)"

I found "Language SAP ERP 2005 SR2 - DE, EN ". Is this fine?

I know what the DB2 LUW FP1 is, it IBM version of MS SQL and for the database.

But what is the rest for? Just a summary.

What sequence do i install them in?

What is the java stack used for? I only want this for functional consultant testing, what I mean is for SD module and so on, do I need the stack?

But do I need the rapid installer still??

Do you have any document that shows the sequence and how to install the below. Would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance

You have to follow the installation guide. follow https://websmp102.sap-ag.de/instguides --> SAP Business Suite Applications --> SAP ERP --> mySAP ERP 2005 --> Installation and select the appropriate OS/DB

Installations and Upgrades -> SAP Application Components -> SAP ERP -> SAP ERP 2005 -> Installation & Upgrade -> download objects...

0. check prerequisites and apply accordingly (see installation guide!)

1. install RDBMS DB2 (installation guide!)

2. start sapinst (as described in the installation guide!)

3. choose SAP ERP2005 -> SAP Systems -> IBM DB2 -> Central System -> Central System installation

4. follow instructions

under SAP System -> Software Units -> choose whether to install ABAP stack only or ABAP and JAVA stack (AS ABAP/AS JAVA)...for standard SD you'll need no Java stack...

installation guide: logon to SAPNet -> Alias INSTGUIDES -> SAP Business Suite -> mySAP ERP 2005 -> Installation -> SAP ERP 2005 SR2 - Installation Guides -> IBM DB2 Universal Database for UNIX and Windows -> Windows -> ABAP (or: https://websmp106.sap-ag.de/~sapidb/011000358700006447572006E)

Hi Sunil

The problem I'm having is that when you read the Install Guides it talks about specific software. But it doesn't explain what it is part of.

For instance the document says start with SAPinst. But it doesn't say that the SAPinst is in the item you need to download with the name "BS2005 SR2 Installation Master Windows Server on IA32 32bit" on the SAP portal.

Then in previous threads Andreas Herzog says I must download the following

NW 2004 Kernel & windows Server

SAP ERP 2005 SR2

SAP ERP 2005 SR2 Installation Export 1 to 8.

But I don't see this in the install guide. So how do I link what i need to install with what i need to download??? Answer this and it will help a lot.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Peter

Thak you. That helps a lot I was looking at master document majority of the time.

On page 67 it says for a database instance i need the following:

Installation master - I got this

Kernel - I got this

RDBMS - I got this

Export DVD - I got this

But above in previous threads says I need SAP ERP 2005 SR2, where does this fall in?? The on the portal I have "Language SAP ERP 2005 SR2 - DE, EN", is this the same thing Peter?

Thanks in advance

SR2 appendix means <b>S</b>ervice <b>R</b>elease <b>2</b>.

This is a special update version with certain package level (SR2 = package level 2) installed.

As far as I known the DVDs on SAP Service Marketplace did always represent the latest SR level (in our case 2).

this can also be seen, when having a look at LABEL.ASC of the DVD/CDs:

177> type LABEL.ASC

SAP:ECC:600SR2:DVD_EXPORT(1/2):Installation Export DVD:D51032272_1

In the install documents it talks about SAP solution manager and it needs to be installed first. Do I need this for minimul install? because it will look ask for the key when installing.

What is the purpose of the SAP solution manager?

yup...wou'll need the bare minimum in order to ge tthe key...otherwise no installation will be possible...when installed go for transaction SMSY - first add a anew server then go for -> System Landscape -> other object -> choose your system -> generate installation/upgarde key (CTRLSHIFTF10)

as far as I know you will very soon (< 4 weeks) need the Solution Manager to download Hot Packages from Service Market Place.

They will on longer be downloadable through http and browser.

Hi

For the solution manager. What must I download to install it? Bare minumim.

On the portal there is "SOLMAN40 SR2 Installation Master Windows Server on IA32". File size is 28196. Is this the correct one?

There is also "Solution Manager 4.0 SR2 Installation Export CD 1/4 " going all the way to 4 cd's. Large files. Is it this one?

Which one is it? How do you know which one it is?

Thanks in advance
