Except you should use a fully qualified host name for the host instead of an IP address...

Also, with the integrated/internal ITS, the path should be left blank.

i have check the entry of the host name and port by going to SMICM --> Goto -->Services

Hi John,

did you ensure that the portal server is allowed to establish a connection to the ITS using the given port. I am talking about Firewalls. Check whether a firewall blocks the connection attempts.

Hi John

Once again, the tests are not normally very useful. You are better to try an iView and see if it works...

Hi John,

I would suggest you ask your network people. They should know about your network structures. If you have access to your portal server you could try to access the SAP Web Gui via Web browser.

The ITS test assumes that you have set up a complete path to get to the ITS, but the recommendation is to leave it blank. So, the iViews work, because they know what to do with a blank path, but the connection test doesn't.

the experience is that the connection test for ITS - particularly integrated ITS doest give correct results. As Michael already pointed out, jut create a ivew and test.

Hi John

you might also want to look at this document. It contains detailed instructions how to integrate applications into SAP NetWeaver Portal using Application Integrator.

Hi John,

you should have created a system object. The system object contains all connection parameters (protocol, host, port, etc.). Your iView points to this specific system object. At runtime the connection parameter of the system object are used to establish a connection between iView and backend system.

To find out which system object your iView is using have a look at the iViews properties. Check the field System Alias.

From the error message I can see that your system object is not configured properly. Maybe you are not even using a system object.

You will find an overview of all system objects under =>System Administration => System configuration => System Landscape.

Best regards,

Martin

Hi John

This time it's the ITS parameters in the system definition! I think you have forgotten to put a hostname plus port number for the ITS host. In this case it will be your ICM port number.
