Generic Extractor with View Vs Function Module

Hi Experts,

I have to design generic data source for bringing data for almost 100 fields from standard and Ztables.

I would like to know going for the generic extractor with View is better or function module is better. It would be great if you provide the pros and cons in each approach.

Your help would be appreciated greatly.
