Setting up SAP HANA email alerts with outlook?

Thanks for taking the time to answer my question.

We want to set up email alerts on SAP HANA in order to track our back-up status.

This is the screen we get to. It asks for the sender's email address as well as the SMTP server and SMTP port. It does not require login credentials such as username and password and so does not require authentication.

This is an issue however as we can't send emails through outlook without authentication. Is there a way around this?

We've tried using gmail as well, but have faced the same problem. We can't use the other solution mentioned here for gmail ( as it relies on g-suite which requires us to delete all our other MX records, including the ones we use for outlook.

On our linux server (hosting SAP) I managed to use an MTA (postfix) to send an email without authentication to a randomly generated temporary email online and gmail (gmail put it in the spam folder). When I sent it directly to outlook it was blocked by spamhaus, however this isn't a problem as we have a gmail address we can forward it from. Since I confirmed it worked when I wrote the command directly into the terminal, I tried adding the MTA details in the above boxes, but when I ran the back-up I didn't receive a message at all.

Circling back to my question, is there anything we can do to get around this? We need this fairly urgently as we encountered an error with the back-ups recently and want to prevent it from occurring in the future.

Thanks again!

Consider to allow anonymous relay in mail server for that HANA IP.

For more information about anonymous relay, please contact with your mail server administrator.

Further information regarding to configure sending email on HANA, please check
