Upgrade to BI 7.0

Hi Experts,

Can anyone pls provide me detailed steps as to howto upgrade from BW 3.X to BI 7.0.

Can you also detail on whether we can get all the data and objects in the lower version to BI 7.0 version.

Pls provide detailed answer.

Urgent, Got to do an upgrade project.

Hi Arvind,

If this is technical upgrade than, most of the jobs are done by basis team. The BW consultants are responsible for testing's to check that every thing is working fine.

Before upgrade to NW2004s we need to upgrade supporting softwares like DB2, Operating systems, GUI, Interfaces, Windows etc.

Summarized step for upgrade.

1. Copy of 3.x Prod environment as new Dev environment.

2. Do some performance testing in new dev env

3. Upgrade DB2 version in new dev env

4. Do the same testong as per step 2 and compare the results (Performance)

5.1. upgrade the BW 3.x to NW2004s in new Dev env.

5.2.Copy the new Dev environment (Upgraded) as new Quality Env

6. Do detailed regression testing (Back end and front end.) in new Dev env and be ready for defects.

7. Fix the defects

8. Retesting.

9.Fix the defects in new Quality env also, which we got in new Dev env.

10.Ask user to do UAT in new Quality Env.

11. Fix defects if any

12. Now Upgrade the original prod env (DB2, GUI,OS, NW2004s etc)

13. Implement the changes which we got in new Dev and new Quality.

14. Scrape the Old dev env and old quality env.
