Problems with setup package

Former Member

Hi,

I created a setup package for individual user . And build a device for it . Everything worked fine..

But when i created setup package for multiple users and installed it on the device for one user. It is giving me info message that "No applocation are installed yet on your device ;choose synchronize to install your applications" .But i have included application in Setup package . In info button on mobile device it is showing me the application . But in webconsole it is not...

Secondly suppose i want to apply another application to my device . Should i create new setup package and install it. If so how can i uninstall The previous setup package .

Thirdly CREme and Tomcat are to be installed when we build new device in addtion to setup package.

Thanks and Regards

Hi Neha,

1.

When you create a setup package for multiple users, i.e. MDI setup package.

The application is not assigned to the new user of your device. It is just downloaded to the setup package. You have to synchronize once to get the application assigned to the new user.

So you are not going to download the whole application to the device in the synchronization, but only the assignment information. It is the normal behaviour of the MDI Setup package.

2.

If you want to deploy one more application, you need to assign it in the device maintenance in Netweaver Mobile Administrator. The synchronization will bring the application to the device.

If you want it to be already present in the Setup package image, then you have to create a new setup package. You have to uninstall old image or MI from the device and install the new one. For unistalling, for LAPTOP MI unistaller will be available on the start menu itself. For PDA, go to control panel and unistall it.

3. You have to install only Creme in device and not the Tomcat. Tomcat will be already there in the Setup package. (or even normal MI)

Thanks Prashantha,

I am not getting even the assignment message when i synced twice..

This might be because i have not assigned the new user in the hierarchy group.

I mean everytime i install the setup package to new user i have to assign the user to group (As in normal MI)

Thanks and Regards

Hi Neha,

Yes you are right, already user should be there in the hierarchy group.

Generally, All the related users are already in the hierarchy group and you create a setup MDI setup package using a service or technical user and distribute it to all those users that are there in the hierarchy group. The users will create themselves in the device and synchronize to get the application assigned to them.

Hi Prashantha,

I tried removing setup package from Device to install new setup package but it is showing me as

\MI\Bin\agent.dll

\MI\Bin\NATSTART.dll

\MI\lib\compiler.jar

\MI\lib\Meg.jar

\MI\lib\newclasses.jar

\MI\lib\pinstall.jar

\MI\lib\system\jaik_javax_cryoto.jar

\MI\lib\system\jaik_jce.jar

\MI\lib\system\jdk11z_update.jar

\MI\lib\tomcat.jar

Are in use or read only files. I went to memory and closed all running programs ..Then also i am not able to uninstall the setup package

Thanks and Regards

Hi Neha,

If you want to uninstall MI, you need to goto Windows/startup folder. delete the MobileEngine.lnk (or MIServer.lnk in 7.0 )file. Reset the device. Now uninstall the MI as you did before.

you need to do all these things because there is no way to stop MI and Tomcat from device. So deleting the startup link and restarting will stop the MI and you can uninstall MI neatly.
