When XI is installed an instance of adapter engine is also installed. This adapter engine is called central adapter engine. If the load is very high, then you can have additional adapter engine. This is called local adapter engine.

    Hi Krishna,

Central Adapter Engine: The Central Adapter engine will be availabe any where and it can refer the XI server. The adapter engine should not be in the same placed in the same where the XI server is available.

Local Adaper Engine: The Adapter Engine should be placed in the same place whree XI server is available.

    Hope I am clear.

Please let me know if you have any queries..!

    Thanks and Regards,

    Chandu.

      Hi,

When you install SAP XI, you have couple of choices.

      1. You can configure your adapter engine in Integration Server so it will be part of integration server. Though it physically resides on the server it's logically different entity altogether.

      2. If you are fully utilizing XI then it's better to destribute different entities over the network to balance the load properly and optimize performance. You may configure multiple adapter engines for high performances. Only thing you need to do is to connect adapter engine(s) with integration server to mentain systems integrity.

      Regards,
