Using Hierarchy framework for a new application

Hello SDN guys,

I would like to have information about hierarchy framework. It is used for lots of reports and transactions like for example PPOM. I would like to know if it is possible to create a specific application with this hierarchy framework ? Is it possible to find any documents on hierarchy framework ?
