Dialog Instance on Windows and TP

Hi group,

since we installed some additional instances on Windows server we have problems with our transportsystem. Looking for wrong DNS-names or directories. Do you have a working configuration for that problem.

regards

Thomas

No thats one of the problems. It uses an name that we do not use any more. It uses S65B45BB an had to use DESEEBER02. I looked for that in SAP and didn't find where to change it.

So - that means you installed a dialog instance with the old name and now renamed your central instance the windows box is connecting to?

If you use DNS you can add just a CNAME entry on the DNS-Server and point it to the same IP as DESEEBER02.

Perhaps. I have no idea where SAP took the old name from. But I want not to change the DNS but the name in SAP. Do you know where.

This will be configured during the installation of the database client, you need to modify the client software for DB4 to connect to the correct host.

And not CHANGE the DNS - just add a new entry (not a HOST (A) entry but an ALIAS (CNAME) entry)

Hi Thomas,

I can only fully agree with Markus here. You should add an entry in the local hosts file of the windows server.

But:

I would normally recommend to not use the windows server for transports, because it makes it sometimes a bit instable - therefore I would hardcode RDDIMPDP to Prio A and the CI server ...

Hi,

this is what I want. But it must be possible to release transports or imports on an application server. And this is the problem. I changed the paramter DIR_TRANS for this application servers. This looks good now. But when releasing a transport in SE10 I get a message that tp could not be started:

Meldungsnr. TP608 Diagnose

Es wurde versucht, das Transportsteuerungsprogramm tp mittels der lokalen RFC-Schnittstelle anzustarten. Dabei ist ein Fehler aufgetreten.

Fehler-Code: 4

RFC Fehlertext: connection to partner 'RAAPPL03:2051' broken / CPI

Bedeutung der Fehler-Codes:

04 RFC communication failure

In SM21 I found:

S2 3 Verbindung zu CPIC-Client 252 abgebaut

S7 4 > Partner LU Name: RAAPPL03

S0 R > Host 192.168.60.113

TP 0 tp-Aufruf mißlungen (RFC-RC=4; RFC-Message=connectiontopartner'RAAPPL03:1549'broken/CPIC-CALL:'ThSA...).

Any idee is welcome

Try the following

- go to the windows box

- cd \usr\sap\trans\bin

- tp connect <SID> pf=<transport profile>

Does this come back without an error? If not, then you TMS is not yet correctly configured.

Ther is the problem. The profile could not be read. might be a problem of the code page ? You know how to change this ?

check contents from
deseeber02\sapmnt\trans\bin\test.pfl

I have a feeling that it contains invalid characters. check with NOTEPAD or SAPPAD.

Is this an EBCDIC or an ASCII iSeries? Where did you create that transport profile? On Windows?

Hello Markus,

its UNICODE and the profile was created on iSeries.

Without knowing about your "DNS" problem it´s difficult to advise something here. Can you resolve the names using "nslookup"?
