Dear all,
I have some doubts in File Adapters.
1. Are any tools used used for the development of FTP interfaces?
2. Does anyone have idea on Pre-processors and does it have any relation with File adapters?
3. Merits and Demerits in File Adapters.
4. Difference between using NFS and FTP in File adapters.
Expecting your kind and quick response.
Chandra
1. Are any tools used used for the development of FTP interfaces?
U need to have FTP in place with access granted. this will suffice to have file scenario configured WRT XI
3. Merits and Demerits in File Adapters.
demerits: file cannot be processed for complex strucutres

Content Conversion in File Adapters can create only strcutures shown in this link.
http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/2c/181077dd7d6b4ea6a8029b20bf7e55/content.htm
They do not support a deep nested strcuture for content conversion.

One issue with file adapters currently is the limitations on the size of the file that it can process.
SAP recommends a file size of 5 MB, but in real time one comes across requirements where you need to porcess bigger files and you might need to quicksize your hardware or split your file and so on.
