Default values from characteristics not populated in Material master

Dear

I have a problem in default values for Characteristics. When we create a material in MM01 with reference to other material , the classes and default values of the characteristics from reference are automatically copied into new material. This is fine. But after that when I try to add a new class in classification view for the same material in MM02 then some default values from the characteristics are not copied. Though it is marked as Default values in Characteristics. Has anyone encountered this similar issue ?

from where should it be copied if you add a new class?

Have you seen an option to enter a reference material when you are in MM02?
