Architecture details in email integration between SAP CRM and Outlook

Hello all,

Would someone be able to give me an insight how exactly is the email integration done between SAP CRM and Outlook. I would want to know why are all settings done in SCOT --> How does the SMTP host help etc etc..

Would appreciate if someone can send me some doc on the same. Have already seen the SAP Help, but tht doesnt help me too much to understand why things are done. All it says is how things are done.
