Work flow concept

Hi Gurus,

Can anyone explain me workflow concept. What exactly it does mean and in which functionality it can be used.

I appreciate if you provide me the detals with example.

Hi Venkat;

Workflows are used as a means of communicating to the Biz users if the system fails to process a document.

Let us say you are inducting Orders in SAP thru Idocs. Now let us assume an idoc fails to convert for want of information (say the Sold to information is missing in the idoc).

Now we have to Communicate this to the user, this is done thru Workflows.

In workflows you can control which user should receive the kind of workflows. For instance a Finance person, need to receive only Invoice/Finance related workflows etc.

This concept can be used in most of the Biz functions, right from Order induction to Invoice processing.

Hi Mani,

I really appreciate your immediate response. I understood the purpose of Workflow but i would like to have much more info regarding this. Is this functionality fulfilled by Functional consultants or technical consultants. Is there any standard process to follow?

Can you please explain me in detail?

Hi Venkat;

I can give a little more details on this, but would request you to go thru the link provided by Srini.

The Workflow set up would Involve the EDI/EAI team apart from the Core SAP team.

In SAP you might have to set up the Partner Profile T.Code WE20 which is normally done by Basis team. Once you do this we need to Create Agent-ids and assign Biz Users to this Agent Id. You can assign the Users to various Agent id using the T.Code PPOM.
