BOM optional item

I would like to know how can I set a component in BOM as an optional and whenever it is being consumed show it in process order. Let me explain the whole scenario there is a RM which is being maintained by MM and needs inventory tracking but that RM is being used in some waste treatment process, which is out of production scope. So the idea is to keep that RM in BOM as an optional component. <b>Is there any possibility to do this without alternative BOM and different production version?</b> I would appreciate a quick response on this.

Create an alternate group for the materials A1 and A2(Optional) as 01 in the BOM.

This can be done in the details screen of material in the BOM.

Maintain the usage probability and priority for the material.

By this way you can maintain this in BOM and will not be accounted in costing if this is not used.
