Hi,

U need to do the follwoing for ur workflow to work fine after transport..

1) Do the auto customizing in SWU3 except setting up of Prefix nos.

in the system u want to transfer the Workflwo and test

2) Transport all ur TPs in the order DDIC elemnts, FN. Group, Bus. Object, Task,

Workflow

3) In the transported system, Chk if all ur dialog tasks r set as general tasks

4) Goto SAP inbox(SBWP) settings->workflow settings->refresh organisational structure

U need not worry abt the Prefix no. at all..

Hope this helps u...

No, it shouldn't affect your WF as far as I know. My understanding of the prefix numbers is that they are used only when you create a new object (standard task TS, workflow template WS, role AC) in the particular system. That is why you don't need that configuration unless your system is open for development.

Will you be developing workflow objects in QA and/or Prod?

If the answer is "no", then there is no need to have these prefix numbers defined. In QA and Prod it is the runtime environment that is important.

It happened to me and I solved this following exactly this steps:

You have to configure to PRD first->transportate the request up to PRD, QA second->transportate the request up to QA and DEV is the last one and don't need to transportate.

1- configuring prefix to PRD system

- On DEV system, go to the maintain prefix number OOW4 and change the column SAP System to PRD system, change Client to the client used on PRD system and save;

- Transportate the request;

- at the end of these steps you will be production prefix number is already configured.

2- configuring prefix to QA system

- On DEV system, go to the maintain prefix number OOW4 and change the column SAP System to QA system, change Client to the client used on QA system and save;

- Transportate the request;

- at the end of these steps you will be QA prefix number is already configured.

3- configuring prefix to DEV system again.

- On DEV system, go to the maintain prefix number OOW4 and change the column SAP System to DEV system, change Client to the client used on DEV system and save;

- Here don't need to Transportate the request, but here on DEV you can change to another one when you need to transportate in the future;

- at the end of these steps you will be DEV prefix number is already configured.

best regards,

Glauco

Hi Glauco,

well am trying to do as you said,

in my DEV > OOW4 the prefix is already there and is active,

now as you said, i tried to change SAP System to QAS,

but the field is disabled.

i only have an option of deleting the existing Prefix in DEV and creating a new Prefix with same prefix with just the SAP System as QAS and client XXX.

is it safe to do so ?

Yes I think you have to delete and create a new one with the same prefix for each one.

Have you transportated to production ?

Make it as my example.

hi,

PRD is fresh,

we are testing it in QAS, as QAS has data.

So you sure i need to delete the DEV Prefix and create one for QAS.

but what when i need to modify in DEV and test in DEV,

do i need to create a prefix again in DEV.

Thanks,

Aditya.

P.S point are there for sure

Yes. I'm sure.

The production you have to create and transportate before others because if you don't do it, after all configured and working fine, when you transportate to production, you will have problems with the production system prefix number.

The first is the production even you don't use it now, and transportate it to production. after that, QA system (and transportate it to QA system only) and last one DEV system without transportation.

You have to delete and create new, without problems.

Best regards,

Glauco
