Capacity table in R3 and APO

Hi!

I am having a hardtime understing R3 and DS planning board capacity table.

Does APO capacity table over ride the R3 capacity table? I would like to finite schedule some of the WCs, but not sure which table i need to change. and if I do change what would be the effect of that change on the other system. I am concerns some of my WCs are over loaded with 999% one week then next week is at 50% then the week after is 175%.

Thank you in advance

Linh

Hi Linh,

You have to first decide if the product is being planned (and scheduled) in APO or R/3. If the product is being managed in APO (MRP Indicator X0) then you should be using the DS board for Scheduling. The schedules for operations in a Planned or Production Order in APO will transfer to R/3 immediately via CIF. In R/3 you just carry out the execution part and confirm the operations.

For the planning and scheduling to be correct in APO the resource capacity needs to be reflected correctly in APO. If the capacity is changed in R/3 and the changes are not transferred to APO then the sort of mismatch menitoned by you is possible. One option is to manage the changes in capacity through capacity variants directly in APO based on scheduler's understanding of the shop floor issues. But if the basic capacity of the resource is changing - shift durations changing or output is increased due to machine overhaul etc. then the basic data changed in R/3 workcenter would be transferred to APO via CIF.

Hope this helps.

Thanks,

Somnath
