We need to provide an E-Mail solution in enterprise portal (with standard e-mail features like inbox, sent messages, creating
groups etc.) through integration with external mail servers like MS Exchange or any similar mail server. My understanding
currently is that we need to integrate with external mail servers and SAP EP does not provide any built in solution for this.
The requirement is that the user should be able to see new messages as soon as logs into the portal and once he clicks the new
messages link, he would be taken to the message inbox from where he can view mails, send mails, create groups etc.
Can someone tell me what is the standard approach or standard e-mail application used for providing e-mail solution. Also what
are the pre-requisites. Can the portal user id and e-mail id for a user be different. If they are different, can SSO (Single Sign On) to the mail inbox be provided through user mapping. Will mapping all users be a complex process.
