Hi,

The UOM, for eg: Pallet kind of material , you need to know the Length, width and height.since it is a packging material when you have HU also used in your system, it can be fetched from the Packging instructions also Tcode POP2 or POP3

Yes you are coorrect, the details what we get in HU screen are Pallet master say P Length/width details not of the packing materialsay 464321, then whats the use of maintaining length/width details in 464321.As Vishnu said it can be used to find Volume details any ex for that.

Any material will have at least one UOM called base UOM. All other UOMs (alternate UOMs) should have conversion set with respect to base UOM, in material master UOM conversion table. Lenght/width/height details are particularly important in UOMs such as Cartons, Pallets, if maintained the system can calculate volumes during delivery packaging and estimate loading space needed.

You can find all UOMs for a material maintained in MARM in fields LAENG, BREIT and HOEHE. Open MARM in SE11 to see structure and in SE16 to see contents.

Also don't forget to reward a snippet if you find it useful. It encourages people to answer!

Vishnu your answer is very helpful, we have a requirement that is while doing packing for a mtaerail into a Pallet(P), in HU screen length/width/height details are picking upd from P -this is a stnd SAP functionality but users are asking it should come from Materails master, is it can be possible or not?

You said that these length width/height details will be based to calculate the Volume while packing..

Can you pl give me some simple ex..?

Vishnu,

Based on the xplanation you gave about UoM I would also like to ask about EAN and EAN categories. I understand these designate the commercial UoM but then how do they affect the settings for material and where can they be configured independently.

Thanks

Adi
