Connecting SAP BO Client Tools to BO Server remotely!

Hello experts,

I have BO 4.2 SP04 Client tools installed on my laptop. And we have a SAP BO server running at our office on which SAP BO 4.2 SP04 server is installed.

Now the thing is I am sitting at home and my colleague is sitting in office. Our server is connect to internet. But we shut that server down when we leave for home. Now the question, is it possible for me to connect the client tools like UDT, IDT etc to the BO server remotely over the internet? Keeping in mind the static/dynamic IP, Internal/external IP concept in mind as a new IP is assigned to the server randomly each time it restarts.

How can I connect to the server remotely during office hours?

Installing client tools on server and accessing it through team viewer is not an option.

Thanking you in advance, Warm Regards,

Bassam

Just to expand on Ajay's answer :
Your server is inside your company network, which is not exposed to the outside world. I hope it is not exposed, as otherwise all your data is not secured and exposed to hacking/stealing.
In order for the BOE clients to connect to the BOE server, they need to be on the same network.
The only way to achieve that securely is via VPN type access. It connects your laptop anywhere on the planet to your corporate network.
Once that works - you can connect BOE clients to BOE server.

Bassam,

Typically ALL computers are connected to the internet but the pipe to the internet is only going one way. The only way you can connect to the server sitting inside your network is have some sort VPN / IP Tunnel software installed on the router. You would need to connect to router from your home but it needs to be configured to allow VPN (Virtual Private Network) / IP Tunnel to your office network. In simple terms the Router has Public address on one side and Private address (192.168.x.x) on other side. The BI 4.2 SP4 server is using private IP from your network. The address should be same most of the time.

Things to check:

- RUN CMD prompt of BI 4.2.SP4 server to find out what IP address is configured, type "IPConfig / all"

- You can try to connect to this IP Address but more than likely it will NOT work because the IP is private address

- You need to your IT Admin to see if you have VPN functionality on the Router
