SAP HR ID has SAP Login ID / Portal Login ID

Hi ,

We are thinking of using the SAP HR ID has the SAP Login ID and the Portal Login ID, ... Did anyone had the same approach ? Any feedback will be welcome .

Or, (I'm a HR guy), what is SAP recommended approach and User ID ( How to generated the SAP User ID ) .

    Hi Schutz,

    This would be a preferred approach, if you are thinking of using a single sign on concept, where once the employee logs into the network in his machine, he can use the same id for all the applicable systems- be it portal or SAP R/3 back end.

    That's actually the approach we are looking at changing to given that we are now moving globablly. Also, SAP themsleves use a similar approach but take it a step further (better?) by having an indicator in the first position that tells you what KIND of user the person is...for example, you will notice that SAP customers are issued "S" number like S00012345533 whereas a SAP employee might have a "C" number like C0001234234. I think that works great for not only insuring unqiueness but also the context of the user is immediately apparent (nice for those monitoring who is on the portal for example).
