Can someone please explain to me about RFC Signatures... I have read about it but cant get my head round it... I imported an RFC and can see the request and response message but no Signature....

Please explain what it is... Where I can find it... What it does and what its relevance is to my design and configuration

Thank you..

Hi,

As explained above RFC Signature is relared to RFC Adapter runtime behaviour or functionality.

RFC Adapter requires metadata describing the RFC_enabled functionsin back-end systems.in RFC communication inbound and outbound for successfull metadata transformation it should have some signature methodolgy it means say for example some metada to has been sending to requested system from sending system , the same time the requested system should send ant RFC-enabled functions to check the correcet requested data received or not.. this type proceedure is called signature of RFC-enabled funcationality.

From an implementation perspective all you need to do in Import the RFC and make sure that the mapping populated the request message as expected with the correct values and format.

In the runtime, the RFC adapter loads the RFC metadata from the SAP system and convertsthe RFC - XML from XI into the format understood / expected by the SAP system.

From this link,

http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/11/028417f9f8b24cbe1b0b398e1cb76a/content.htm

<i>the RFC adapter requires RFC metadata describing the signatures of RFC-enabled functions in the back-end systems. Therefore, the corresponding agreements must have a connection to an SAP system for reading this metadata</i>.
