Diff between XI and PI

May i know the diffrence between XI and PI.

XI runs on Netweaver 2004 and PI runs on Netweaver 2004s.

They are basically the same technically but when SAP launched Netweaver 2004s , to bring all objects of Netweaver 2004s in Synch with the WAS version, XI was renamed to Process Integration (PI 7.0) .

Currently every SP release of XI has a corresponding release for PI and they both support the same functionalities.

Some difference that you can see in PI are:

1. Adapter Enhancements like JMS,JDBC,Oracle-JDBC enhancements

2. CIDX Enhancements

3. New Conversion Agent

4. Receiver Determination Enhancements

5. Multimapping

6. userdefined enhancements

7. Unbounded Processes (Integration Processes)

Harsha,

from 2004S release Xi is called PI. where 'S" stands for synchoronus release . you corresponding relese for XI3.0. their is no difference between them. From June 2006 2004S is available forcustomers to buy before it was rampup.

Hi ,

XI 3.0 is a part of Nw2004 and PI 7.0 is a part of NW2004s,apart from the name change both are provide the same functionalities.

Every SP release of PI has a corresponding release of XI.

Check these comparisions.
