LSMW projects subprojects reorganization

Dear Experts!

Could you please advise if it is possible to rearrange existing objects in LSMW under new projects or subprojects?

(At my current customer, objects are not logically organized, so it makes it hard to find the correct one. Is there a way I can reorganize them without re-creating the objects? Can I move them or copy them?)

Thanks in advance!

Vanda

In LSMW you can use the menu GOTO > Administration

from here you can copy sub-projects and/or objects together or just alone into another object and after that you can delete it from the old project.

You have to carefully follow the messages, as not all is copied in one go, you eventually need to copy your recordings individually from within the project, as well as Reusable rules are not copied ==> Use copy of project , copy from withing or export and import

LSMW projects are usually like the name says: project specific. And projects have usually a short life time and then you have another project. Of course I often copy from old projects into new projects, but here I review everything carefully before using it.

I personally would never have the idea to rearrange objects and sub-projects from old projects as they only reside as a pool to copy from.

LSMW is a kind of a code generator. If LSMW is used professional then you find a lot ABAP coding within the mapping rules. There are data and table definitions and the reusable rules are includes to the generated ABAP. An object that was defined for project A may end in a syntax error in a project B.

So just pure reorganization for a nice structure can actually harm the ability to work and may make it more difficult to find issues or all necessary parts if you copy later from here to a new project.
