FPN - TREX : Retrieve indexes from producers

Hi,

We've set a federated portal network on NW2004S SP9 and have configured the same TREX server on both the consumer and producers.

I now want to setup a federated search.

I managed to setup quite easilly the standard solution which display's results from each producer in a separated tab and I even managed to add additional custom tabs to other search engines.

I'm now wondering how I can retrieve indexes located on producers so I can have results from all producers on one page.

Is the 'integration 3rd party search engine' the only solution or is there any API which would allow me to retrieve indexes from producers so I can perform a search on all portals within the federated network and put the results together within a list. Does someone already succeeded to do so?

We too are in need of help for implementing a Custom KM Search UI Solutions in a client landscape that has FPN Setup. We are looking at the feasible options for retrieving the Indexes from Producer Portals.

Did you have any luck with your requirement? If so could you please share across the approach for retreiving the Indexes from Producers or even any other feasible approach to implement custom logic search logic across the Consumers / Producers in FPN landscape?
