replaced favicon not shown in Chrome browser

Hi there,

in our portal (7.4-SP12) we have replaced the SAP standard favicon with a customer specific favicon according SAP note 1906707 - How to customize favicon.ico for SAP NetWeaver 7.1X onwards Version

This works perfectly fine using IE11, even when accessing the Portal using SAP Web Dispatcher.

However, using Chrome (version 55) we keep seeing the SAP Standard favicons.

Any idea how to get this working for Chrome browser as well?

Best regards,

Johannes

Just to add the solution to the above problem:

If the size of the favicon is to big, Chrome does not display it! Using a 48x48 pixel favicon it works with Chrome as well 🙂

Hi Johannes

As mentioned earlier and as stated in the Note # 1655306, The release always applies to the current version of the Chrome release cycle. "SAP stops supporting the previous releases at the same time as Google."

So if the browser is not supported by the vendor then SAP on turn stops supporting it.

Currently you have to test the scenario in the latest Google chrome release (Version - Version 58.0)

Hi

With SAP NetWeaver 7.02, 7.30, 7.31 and 7.40, using Google Chrome is generally supported. However, certain components are excepted from this release (see the restrictions of Note # 1655306 - Google Chrome for end users and administrators).

The release always applies to the current version of the Chrome release cycle (see googlechromereleases.blogspot.com). Therefore, as soon as Google publishes a new release of Google Chrome, SAP stops supporting the previous releases at the same time as Google.

I see that you are at Chrome 55, but a latest version already exists. Can you check with the latest Chrome version.

Hi,

updating Chrome to the latest version is currently not an option, as there are other (bigger) problems as outlined here:

2372722 - Portal is not loaded on Chrome 54,55,56,57 (beta) and above

2408633 - UI5 Controls Do Not Work Correctly After Upgrading to Google Chrome 55+

Any other ideas?

Best regards,

Johannes
