Email address output in table

Hi, I have a master data listing of employee information and one of the fields is email address. I'd like to output it so that it is output at a link. In 3.5 we could use the Web Table API. We no longer have this in 2004s so what would be a good solution for this now? Should I submit an SAP Message requesting functionality?
