With InfoSource Vs Without InfoSource

Dear Gurus,

Now I'm working on BI 7.0.

What is the main difference in Data flow creation With InfoSource Vs Without InfoSource? I am able to load the data in both scenarios to InfoProviders.

Best regards

Niranjan

Hi Niranjan,

As you told you can load the data in both the scenarios. The only reason why we go for Info Source in BI 7.0 is if transormations are complex.

Hope it clears your doubt.

Thanks Bala,

I can understand it. but in our technical spec they clearly mention to use InfoSource. I do not know the reason. On this issue I need clarity.

Creation of Data flow With InfoSource this is the feature of 3.5BW Vs Without InfoSource this is the feature of BI7.0 where there is no infosource concept onlt Data Transformation and DTP works.

But both the case u can load the data.

Hope u will get a clear picture on this.

Thanks,

Hello Niranja,

You mention in your technical spec. Okay, questions to ask are the following:-

How many datasources are going to your data target?

If it is only one then do not use an infosource, connect the datasource to the target by a transformation. Performance will thus be better.

If you are using multiple datasources then use an infosource.

Please see the following:-

should aid your decision.

Cheers,

Pom
