Protecting columns in workbook - IP Planning

Hi All,

I have a question on planning using a workbook(BI-IP).

The workbook contains an input ready query (on a multiprovider) which has actuals columns and plan columns.

Is there a way to protect the actuals columns in order to prevent the user from changing values(display only).

When I select the option 'Enable Cell protection' within the dataprovider config it still allows the user to change values in the actual columns of the workbook which is confusing to the enduser. Protecting the worksheet temporarily diasables input in the actuals columns but gets refreshed each time the workbook is executed.

It works fine on the web where the actuals are greyed out.

Support pack is SP9.

Thanks

SA

Hi SA,

I guess you can just give READ authorization only to people whom you dont want to change the ACTUALS.

Hope this helps. Or else, explain the requirement.

Thanks for the reply.

In this case restricting authorization will not help since the layout actually has some columns which are read only(Actuals) and some which are open for input(Plan).

This has also been appropriately defined for the respective key figures in the query.

Also in the web it automatically changes these columns to read only and the plan key figures are ready for input which works fine.

It is only in the workbook where the problem exists and as per the help documentation enabling cell protection in the dataprovider is supposed to automatically change the actuals column to display only like in the web.

Not sure why the workbook behaves differently.

SA
