Cumulated Key Figures in BEx query (by Quarter, Not Year)

Former Member

I am returning Key Figures by Year and Quarter in a query. I want the Quarter values to accumulate, but only Within The Year. Instead, when I select the Cumulated box, the Key Figures accumulate not only within the Year, but across the Years as well. Example

2005 Q1 Q2 Q3 Q4 2006 Q1 Q2 Q3 Q4

5 12 24 42 47 54 62 68

The 2005 numbers are fine, but notice how the values keep going up, even from Q4 of 2005 to Q1 of 2006. I want the accumulation to "start over" at the beginning of each year, not accumulate across the year

Hi,

You better to take 4 selections in the columns.

In First selection take only one quarter i.e Q1. In second selction take two quarters i.e Q1 and Q2.In Third selction take 3 quarters i.e Q1 ,Q2 and Q3.In 4th selction take 4 quarters i.e Q1,Q2,Q3 and Q4.

Hi Thomas,

Did u try to use in the selection option of a Char a value range where you put in the first value of the range a constant?: for example "January" to "ZXXXXX", where ZXXXXX is your variable.

See u,

EV,

If I understand your point, this does not address the problem. I'm OK with the range of data being returned -- I want to see multiple years. And I want to see all the Quarters for each year. But I want the numbers to accumulate per Quarter, within each Year, but not across the Year boundary.

Thanks,

Tom
