Is there a way that you can start the SAP XI Adapter: RFC in a different way, maybe to schedule it as a job..
My problem is that the communication between my SAP R/3 and XI sometimes is lost, and I have to restart the Adapter manually in the Visual Administrator to make the connection work again. To prevent this happening I would like to run the job, as asked above, before the actual work has to be done by XI. Is this possible?

Dirk,
you dont need to require start the RFC adapter manually after every disconnection you have setting in Visual admin for this for RFC adapter this connect automatically
please look at the blog by Naveen which expains this

Do I have to set initialRfcClientConnectCheck in the Global Configuration in the Visual Administrator, or in the cluster configuration?

Hi Dirk,
i would recommend to use a ABAP proxy as wrapper to solve the problem completely. Proxy communication is not only much more stabil than RFC but additional more performant. Just use a ABAP proxy, which calls the RFC INSIDE the R/3 resp. use the RFC at R/3 to start a ABAP proxy, if you want to send to the other direction.

Udo
