Basis is being lobbied by our Development staff to maintain a full copy of current production data in a DEV client. We are not considering a system refresh of DEV but a sandbox refresh from PRD that would then be used as a source for a remote client copy into a DEV client. Our dev system is not broken in any way it just doesnt have the current data our developers want
This not a one shot request but would be a repeated procedure to keep fairly recent transactional data in the dev client. .
Question: Does anyone know of any Company doing something similar or do you have any experiences you would share?
I am also also interested in anyone who can speak to where this stands on a best practice vs. worst practice scale.
Hello Bill,
Following are few senarios practiced by several companies.
Senario 1:
Export production client data with profile (SAP_ALL)
Import the exported client data into Development client
Senario 2:
Refresh Quality system with Production database
Export newly refreshed quality system client
Import exported quality system client into development system
*Client export import is prefered to Remote client copy

Looks like I may actually being doing this
Can anyone help me come up with a guesstimate of how big the export file will be for a 500G non-unicode sql database. The client I will be exporting is the only client.
I am running 4.6c with the standard core modules.

We refresh Development at least twice a year, even though SAP does not recommend it.
We use the database system copy method as in QA refreshed, and recreate the clients necessary for config.
You have to export your version management information using note 130906 if you want to do it this way.
Hi,
Can you please share with me the points we should consider while doing this.
And the drawbacks of doing refresh of a dev system. And the problems you faced after the refresh.
And if possible send me the steps which you usually follow to do the refresh of your dev system.
