Scenario for procurement from MRP

All,

Please see the scenario :

Requirements of raw materials for procurement are coming through MRP.

Suppose MRP proposed a requirement for 15 March -07 for a material 'x' based on the planned delivery time .

The vendor doesn't supplied the material on 15th March -07 .

It will be supplied on 20th March-07.

Also please note MRP runs daily at midnight in background .

1. So how this will effect the MRP ?

2. Any changes should be made in the PO by procurement dept ?

Kindly advise.

regards

Hi

1. a. When the MRP is run on 15th, 16th upto 19th, the MRP list will show the item as pending PO i.e. the item is in pipeline.

b. When the MRP is run on 20th, it will consider teh item as Stock

2. If you want the MRP to reflect the exact delivery schedule, then you either have to change the delivery date or have Confirmation Control in PO Item detail. Here, you will have to fill the Expected date of delivery acknowledged by teh Vendor.

However, if you only want that the MRP should consider the item as outstanding, then you need not make any changes to the PO.

Hope this clarifies.

Thanks

Hi Sandeep,

MRP scheduling is done per your settings in MRP2 view of material master, where u have given the planned delivery days. So system does the scheduling for 15march 07 as mentioned by ramki.

Hi Sandeep

if you do not reflect that vendor is going to supply on 20 March 2007, then MRP still assumes that you would receive on 15th March and calculates the reqmts.

If you update the date (either by changing PO, or by creating an inbound delivery with delivery date as 20 Mar 07), then system will correct the supply date as 20th in MD04. You will have more realistic picture of shortages/missing parts then.

Best regards
