Row level security causing scheduling prompt timeout

I recently added a row level restriction using 'Manage Access Restrictions' from the universe design tool. The restriction is applied to one user group only and works fine. i.e. query results are being restricted as expected.

The problem is that when users from this group now try to schedule a Webi report, the prompts never show up! After several minutes of waiting the connection times out. I've verified that this problem is happening after implementation of the row level security restriction, and when the row level restriction is removed the prompts show up with no delay. This row level security is absolutely necessary from a confidentiality perspective in our organization.

    Hi Jothi,

If you mean being able to refresh data providers from within the Webi document, then yes. They can see the prompts, select the values and run the report.

The prompt issue is only coming up when attempting to schedule any of the reports built with prompts.

    Thanks,

    Ahmed

  • Does the prompts created within Universe are assigned to this User Group within Security Editor?.

    Thanks,

    Jothi

Yes, I have another access level which is a copy of the access level for the user group having the prompt issue; the only difference between the two is that one has the row level security applied and the other does not.

    Hi,

Are the user trying to enter the prompts that you have restricted to?.

    Hope they have scheduling rights.

What happens when you do it with a test id?.

    Thanks,

    Jothi

No, the prompts are not related to the rows that are being restricted but it is quite possible that the queries contain objects that have to be evaluated by the restriction. If that is causing the delay then that defeats the purpose of creating a row level restriction :(

Yes they have scheduling rights because I've tested by using the 'Run Now' option on an existing instance and it works.

      Thanks,

Does your restriction set also includes object level security? Can you provide more details like how your restriction set being configured?
