Solution Manager and Composite roles

I am setting up CUA on solution manager. No problems with useridsor single roles, but having problems creating composite roles. From the reading I have done, it seems that I can a create Composite Roles composed of single roles from my Child system(s).

However, in PFCG, when I create a Composite role in my CUA client, it doesn't seem to let me add single roles from the CHILD Sys. I see the system column on the roles tab, but it is greyed out. My Role Parameter is set for Global in SCUM.... Is there something else that I am missing in the setup?

thanks

Thanks Ben, but I have 4 other systems with roles already build for years, I do not want to recreate them on the Solution manager system. I only want to create the composite roles on the SM system and use the single roles from the other systems.

ex: Compostie role z:Master_Data_00 from Solution Manager

single role z:AB12345600 from P50clnt100

single role z:BC12345600 from P55clnt100

single role z:BWbugetv00 from P58clnt100

Am I reading this all wrong?

thanks

Henry,

If I understand your question you also need to create the single role in the CUA (Solution Manager) system and then select the appropriate Target System RFC destination, under the menu tab.

Then when you build the composite, in Solution Manager, insert this role and it will fill in the target system.

Cheers,

Ben

You do not have to completely recreate the roles, but you do need to recreate, in the central system, the single role name and description and then fill out the target system under the menu tab. No need to distribute from the central system to the child.

Then create the composite in the central system. Add roles and the systems you set in the target system of the single roles will be listed.

Add composite role to user in central system and it will automatically add the other roles to the user.

Then look in the child systems and you should see the roles it added.

Cheers,

Ben

Thanks Ben, its work just as you stated. we can create a scat script to upload all the role names and text names into the Solution manager system. Not what we expected, but we can live with it, benefits to the end users will be great for us.

thanks again

Ben sorry, one more question, we have several sap systems and now with solution manager we are creating composite roles across systems, but we just run into a problem. If we have common role names across some of our systems. we can not load them into the solution manager system.

Err: role name already exist.

Is the solution to rename all the roles that have a commom name or it there a better solution?

thanks

I recommend having the type of system part of the naming standard of the role.

i.e. ZRxxxxxxxx The R is for R/3, it would be B for BW, C for CRM etc.

Cheers,

Ben
