User Rights for Crystal Reports Publishing Role

I am currently trying to create a role on the BO Platform for publishing Crystal Reports to the Server. We used to add administration rights to every user that publishes Crystal Reports and I can publish CRs just fine with that. But as more users have access to the BO-Platform we want to cut some privileges.

I created a BW-Publisher role in BW and imported it in the CMC together with a test user and another role with a Crystal Report. The test user has both roles assigned. The BW-Publisher role has these rights to the folder /SAP/2.0/TBWCLNT001, as described in Ingos Blog.

  • Add objects to the folder.
  • View objects.
  • Edit objects.
  • Modify the rights users have to objects.
  • Delete objects.
  • Delete instances.
  • Copy objects to another folder.

But in BW I get this error message, which obviosly links to missing user rigths.

0000000001 An error occurred when synchronizing folder hierarchy for role : rolename(EAS 30001)

I found a question catalogue to a similiar question that I will answer beforehand.

1. the destination in SM59 works correct ? yes

2. you created the system in transaction /crystal/rptadmin yes

3. you imported the roles from the SAP system. yes

4. you assigned the necessary rights on the BOE server for those roles to be able to publish ? obviously not

5. are you using a SAP gateway or the BW publishing service ? I don't know but I think it's the SAP gateway, since we configured something in the SM59.

I am missing something and I don't know what.

Any help would be appreciated.

C. H.

Can you double check that your user has the View permission on the Crystal Report Application Server?

Not having this right may cause issues.

    • Hi, thanks for your answer. The permissions on the Crystal RAS and all other server instances concerning CR are now set to 'View' for everyone. But the problem still persists.
