GMail account in Mail Receiver Adapter

Former Member

Guys,

I'm trying to configure a gmail account in mail receiver adapter. Checking in the internet, I've found the smtp server information:

Address: smtp.gmail.com

Port: 587

Security: TLS

So I set the address in receiver mail adapter as smtps://smtp.gmail.com:587/. I'm using smtps:// as sugested in SAP Note 856599, to use SSL encryption in the SMTP server. However, it doesn't say anything about TLS encryption.

Though the audit log of the message in the adapter engine in Message Monitoring has status Successful (meaning it succesfully connected to the mail server), I never got the e-mails.

Any sugestions?

Regards,

Henrique.

No solution found.

Seems like a version incompatibility between SSL 3.0 and TLS 1.0.

Guys,

as of SPS20 of PI 7.0, TLS protocol version 32 (aka TLS 1.1) is supported in the AFW (at least for the SOAP Adapter, I suppose also for Mail adapter).

It'd be interesting if anyone could retry this test in order to check if it works now.

Best,

Henrique.

Guys,

I tried this scenario again and was even able to make the message reach Gmail SMTP server (using port 465).

However, even though I'm able to receive the message at receiver e-mail, I'm having an error message logged in audit log, and thus the message is set to retry. I think it is due to some SSL/TLS incompatibility.

The error message is "<b>failed to send mail: iaik.security.ssl.SSLException: Record version mismatch: 32:31</b>"

Has anyone seen this before?

Henrique.

So,

since this system is a remote system that I could have access here, I can't be sure about its external connection status. But I thought that if it had any connection problem, the audit log was suposed to get an error status. Ain't that so?

Check with an email client like Outlook Express or Mozilla Thunderbird if you are able to connect gmail through your firewall.

If this works, check if you have a valid email sender address.

The mail adapter goes to an error state, when the mail server sends any error message. But this is not always the case.

For your first try do not use TLS/SSL.

Guys,

I've tried my company's own smtp server and it worked ok. I guess XI is indeed behind a firewall, but I can't confirm.

Also, I can't say that XI didn't work well with TLS. It should work fine, tho, since TLS is almost nothing else than SSL.

Thank you all for your help,

Henrique.

Stefan,

the thing is that i'm not directly in the same subnet of XI server.

Also, the TLS is requested by gmail smtp connection.

Henrique,

If my Server were not behind a firewall , would these details be enough to send a Mail using a Gmail Account??

Address: smtp.gmail.com
Port: 587

Also, in the Receievr Mail Adapter I do not find an option to give the port. How should the Url be?

Can give this a try if you can confirm this.

Bhavesh

Heya Bhavesh,

Just try the URL that I said b4:

<b>smtps://smtp.gmail.com:587/</b>

Also, you'll need user authentication (username, as login@gmail.com, and password).

Am not sure if my server has access to gmail and all that, but let me give it a shot.

Will let you know the details.
