WEBSAPCONSOLE + IIS6 + Win2003

Former Member

It seems to me that I am kicking a dead horse here, but I have not seen any solutions to the random problems such as "Connection to R/3 Broken" and Page cannot be displayed.

Most recently I noticed an error in the System Log. Source: W3SVC EventID: 1009

"A Process serving application pool 'DefaultAppPool" terminated unexpectedly. The process id was '2052'. The process exit code was '0xc0000005'

I know some people have successfully implemented this on IIS6, but did you encounter any of these issues along the way?

Has anyone been able to troubleshoot the errors as I have described?

Thanks in advance everyone!!

Jay

We are beginning to implement SAP webconosle on IIS6 and Win2003. I did receive the broken message at first however after adding isapi_sapcnsl.dll to the allowed web service extensions list I did not have any more problems.

This has already been allowed as described in the steup instructions. This connection to r/3 broken randomly occurs on two different servers at two different sites.

As mentioned, something is crashing the defaultappPool process which usually results in a reboot. If you do not reboot, I either get the page cannot be displayed or it will never authenticate the username / password. Once entered it will just take you back to the main login screen with no errors present.

Weird issue.. not sure where to begin to look.

Jay,

Pl look at SAPNote 910901 - Performance Issue with Win2003/IIS6

Also there should be more threads on the same topic in this Forum.

Hi Jay,

I recently struggled with the same problems you're describing.

We had some problems regarding crashes in IIS (websapconsole, w3wp, crashes, IIS), when working with handheld computers and websapconsole. Every now and then the application crashed and an error message was displayed in the browser. The error message was: Error: unexpected exception.

After patching of SAPGui to no 23, our problem with crashes in IIS 6.0 on Windows 2003, using websapconsole, still occured. On IIS the error message is saying: A process serving application pool 'XXX' terminated unexpectedly. The process id was '4756'. The process exit code was '0x80'. I think this error was supposed to be solved with patch 23 (SAP gui), but still we had some inconvenient problems with this.

I got the following answer (<b>below</b>), after sending a question to SAP. I haven't evaluated the result of the changes yet, and I therefor don't know of it's effects. But maybe it can be a good thing to try out.

<i>A similar issue with the IIS was reported recently by another customer

and was solved by the following steps:

Under Component Services, DCOM Config, IIS Admin Service added the

Network Service account and gave the account Local Launch, Remote Launch,Local Activation, and Remote Activation then reboot the server.

Attempting to access the Web Console now brings up a "Page Cannot Be

Found" HTTP Error 404.

Correcting the Page Cannot be Found message:

Open the IIS Manager

Expand the server name and highlight Web Service Extensions

Click on Add a new Web Service Extension link

Click on Add

Browse to C:\Program Files\SAP\FrontEnd\SAPgui\websapconsole

Select the first file

Continue the previous three steps until you have added all the files in

the webconsole folder.

Check the check box to Allow</i>

I hope it helps.

Thanks Helen, I just implemented those changes and will post the results within the next few days.

I am also trying to install websapconsole on Apache rather than IIS on a seperate server, however I cannot seem to get Apache to process the isapi_sapcnsl.dll . As you can tell I am not too familiar with Apache. I did enable the isapi handler but am stuck at this point

Dear Fekke,

I was trying to config IIS 6 in Windows 2003 for Websapconsole. I have configured Websapconsole properly. But when i was trying to access it through Internet Explorere i get "Page not found " error message.

I would appreciate if you can advise me how to configure IIS 6 to call isapi_sapcnsl.dll.

I have created Virtual Dir in default website site assign the path as well.

Could you please help me to solve this issue.

Hi,

Can I know if anyone have found the solution for this issue?

Also, can someone pass/email this SAP Note 910901. I try to search this note on OSS, however, it is no longer available (it is being pullback).

Hi Eida,

easiest and finally correct solution for this: Open OSS MEssage and ask for note - this is the official way to give you the correct text for this. Other chance is to know anybody from inside SAP - but the first one should be correct approach.

Hope this helps.
