Variants and BW 3.x to 2004s upgrade

Hi all,

I am currently testing the upgrade to 2004s impact to our BW development environment.

In our design we rely on a number of variants that utilise variables on table TVARV that are populated using an overnight utility. This is done to simplify the amount of code we would have to right using standard BW variables, as this is the method used in the R/3 system.

We appear to have lost the connection to the variants we created on version 3.5 and I have used program RSR_VARIANT_XPRA to get them back.

But here is the problem - I cannot change them anymore - the 'save variant' screen that appears has been simplified to allow only 'yes' to save the value or 'no'.

Is there a config change we can make to get back to the original "save variants" screen to allow us to maintain variants using TVARV or a backend program to do this ?

PS we are doing just a backend tech. upgrade and not using the new frontend tools as yet.

Thanks

Chris

Thank you but that note is for another problem - from what I can see it looks like the functionality has changed but this leaves us with a problem with the current queries having to be changed to use standard BW variables with customer exit code.
